Job summary

Delta Faucet Company is seeking an Experienced Packaging Engineer to join our Packaging Engineering Team in the US. You will design, develop and implement packaging solutions, working with Marketing, Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing and suppliers to drive quality and cost improvements.

You will manage packaging design control, conduct ISTA testing, and lead ECOs while ensuring manufacturability and ergonomic alignment across projects.

Qualifications

  • BS in Packaging Engineering or related degree; 2+ years experience.
  • Experience with corrugated, folding cartons, thermoforms and foams.
  • Experience with packaging development, testing and standards.
  • Design for manufacturability, PPAP processes, and supplier validation.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, TOPS/CAPE and PLM tools.

  • Coordinate design, development and production of packaging components with partners.
  • Serve as technical lead for packaging on projects and manage packaging design control.
  • Collaborate with marketing, engineering and operations on packaging concepts.
  • Analyze packaging problems and develop creative options.
  • Ensure graphics and regulatory information are accurately applied.
  • Validate packaging designs with ISTA tests and ECO implementation.
  • Develop packaging quality improvements and cost reductions.
  • Create packaging drawings, samples and analyses for approval.
  • Develop pallet patterns and packaging layouts for assembly.
  • Maintain packaging attribute data in Delta’s ERP/PLM system.

Delta Faucet Company has an extraordinary opportunity for an Experienced Packaging Engineer to join our Packaging Engineering Team! Our Packaging engineers design, develop, and implement complete new product packaging solutions that exceed the expectations of Delta's customers. Delta's packaging engineers work with Marketing, Sales, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and external suppliers to support new product development, quality improvements, customizations, and cost reductions. You also should possess analytical ability and technical expertise in available packaging materials, packaging material manufacturing processes and a deep understanding of the way in which products are packaged in a consumer products manufacturing environment. You will need to make decisions in uncertain environments and synthesize solution options for management.

Responsibilities
  • Coordination of the design, development and production of packaging components and graphics with external partners.
  • Serve as the technical lead for packaging on specific projects and taking ownership of all aspects of packaging design control on these projects.
  • Collaborate with marketing, engineering and operations to develop innovative concepts and solutions for product packaging structure and graphics.
  • Analyze packaging problems, identify root causes, and develop creative options for packaging opportunities.
  • Apply company standards to ensure graphics, copy and compliance / regulatory related information is accurately applied and crafted into packaging components.
  • Verify and validate efficiency of packaging designs by conducting packaging transit and environmental tests per ISTA standards.
  • Author and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) as needed and effectively communicate implications of packaging changes and requirements to all affected functional areas.
  • Identify, develop, and implement packaging quality improvements, cost reductions, and customizations to meet customer and market needs.
  • Lead all aspects of the creation of packaging drawings, samples and written analysis of proposed packaging designs for approval.
  • Develop pallet stacking patterns, product packaging layouts and instructions for assembly.
  • Populate and maintain packaging attribute data within Delta’s ERP/PLM system.
  • Ensure packaging designs stay in sync with company operations and ergonomic requirements.
Education & Experience
  • Possess a BS in Packaging Engineering or related degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience should include design with corrugated, folding cartons, plastic thermoforms, pulp trays and fabricated and molded cushioning foams.
  • You should also have experience with the packaging development, production and printing processes, packaging material selection, engineering documentation and packaging standards, and standardized transportation testing.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability, ergonomics and PPAP steps for verification and validation of first production packaging from suppliers is required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, TOPS or CAPE and product life-cycle management applications is needed.
  • You should have excellent communication and creative problem-solving ability and exhibit solid engineering judgment and ethics.
  • You need the ability to work on multiple projects and be able to work both independently and as part of a fast-paced team.
