Job summary

BMW Manufacturing Company in Spartanburg, SC seeks a Packaging Development Intern for the Spring 2027 term. You will assist the Packaging Planning Team, analyze packaging concepts for future models, and help optimize packaging for environmental and cost improvements.

The role requires enrolled student status, a minimum GPA of 3.0, and the ability to work on-site 40 hours per week. SAP knowledge and German/Spanish language skills are preferred, and a transcript must be attached.

Job Description

The qualified intern/Co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Work with Packaging Planning Team.
  • Support BMW Packaging Planners with daily activities improving and maintaining existing products in existing production areas, as well as assist with analysis of packaging concepts/options for future models.
  • Support in analysis of existing packaging (steel and non-steel) for optimizations to reduce environmental impact, logistics costs, or for communizing across multiple product lines.
  • General support for Packaging Planners on modifications, identification projects and modification of existing packaging.
  • Moderation of Packaging Planning Meetings, including team meetings and packaging reviews for new/modified containers
Qualifications
  • Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain / Logistics Students.
  • SAP knowledge preferred.
  • German and/or Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Logistics knowledge preferred.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
  • Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE January 11th - May 14th, 2027.
