Job summary

BMW Manufacturing Company in Spartanburg, SC seeks a Packaging Development Intern for Spring 2027. You will join the Packaging Planning Team and support daily activities, with focus on improving existing packaging for production areas and helping analyze concepts for future models.

This on-site internship requires enrollment as a US college student, completion of at least 30 credits, a 3.0 GPA, and the ability to pass a background and drug test.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain studies.
  • SAP knowledge preferred.
  • German and/or Spanish language skills preferred.
  • US four-year college student with ≥30 completed credits.
  • Must attach unofficial transcript and pass a substance abuse test.
  • Work term: January 11 to May 14, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Packaging Planning Team with daily activities.
  • Support planners in analyzing packaging concepts for future models.
  • Analyze existing packaging to reduce environmental impact and logistics costs.
  • Assist with modifications and packaging identification projects.
  • Moderate planning meetings and packaging reviews.

Job Description:

Qualifications:

The qualified intern/Co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Work with Packaging Planning Team.
  • Support BMW Packaging Planners with daily activities improving and maintaining existing products in existing production areas, as well as assist with analysis of packaging concepts/options for future models.
  • Support in analysis of existing packaging (steel and non-steel) for optimizations to reduce environmental impact, logistics costs, or for communizing across multiple product lines.
  • General support for Packaging Planners on modifications, identification projects and modification of existing packaging.
  • Moderation of Packaging Planning Meetings, including team meetings and packaging reviews for new/modified containers
Qualifications:
  • Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain / Logistics Students.
  • SAP knowledge preferred.
  • German and/or Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Logistics knowledge preferred.
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
  • Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE January 11th – May 14th, 2027.
