Job summary

Schaefer Plastics is seeking a Packaging Designer to turn concepts into production-ready designs. You will collaborate with customers, packaging specialists, and fabrication teams to develop customized packaging solutions from concept through prototype to production.

This role blends 3D design, hands-on prototyping, problem-solving, and customer collaboration using materials, samples, 3D scanners, and drawing tooling.

Qualifications

• Proficient in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings.
• Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Strong project-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Gather and evaluate project requirements from customers and packaging specialists.
• Create 3D packaging concepts using SolidWorks for review and approval.
• Develop functional prototypes for testing and customer evaluation.
• Produce detailed component and assembly drawings from approved designs.
• Revise designs based on test results and feedback.
• Coordinate with Fabrication to ensure manufacturability and assembly readiness.
• Use EPDM to organize packaging designs and related docs.
• Create working models using 3D scanning equipment and software.
• Maintain accurate inventory of sample materials and containers.
