ABOUT THE ROLE

The Category Manager, Packaging is responsible for managing the strategic sourcing and

procurement of packaging material. The focus is to ensure cost‑effective, efficient, and timely

acquisition of goods and services necessary for the organization’s operations, while driving cost

savings. This role involves developing and executing category strategies, managing supplier

performance, optimizing costs, and fostering strong relationships with suppliers and internal

stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Develop Procurement Strategies: Develop and implement procurement strategies forthe packaging category.
  • Proactively Identify Savings Opportunities: Continuously monitor categories to uncover potential cost‑saving opportunities. This can include identifying areas of over - spending, supplier consolidation, more efficient sourcing strategies, or negotiating better pricing or contract terms.
  • Contract Management: Lead contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms, compliance,and risk mitigation. Manage the lifecycle of contracts, ensuring competitiveness, monitoringperformance, and negotiating renewals and amendments.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify new sourcingopportunities, suppliers, and best practices.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify cost‑saving opportunities and ensure competitive pricingthrough effective negotiation with suppliers.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g.,operations, HR, IT, marketing) to understand needs and requirements for the category. Serveas the main point of contact for all procurement‑related matters within the assignedcategories.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with keysuppliers and vendors, ensuring high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to management on procurement activities, savings,vendor performance, and any risks or issues.
  • Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and suggest improvements to procurementprocesses, ensuring alignment with business goals and operational efficiency. This includesstreamlining workflows, reducing procurement cycle times, and enhancing supplier selectionand contract negotiation processes.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental
    policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience in procurement is preferred. Operationsexperience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
  • Strategic Thinking:The ability to develop long‑term strategies that align procurement decisions with businessgoals.
  • Problem‑Solving:The capability to proactively identify problems in the supply chain or procurement processand develop effective solutions.

  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in all aspects of procurement, from contractterms to supplier performance.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and data‑driven decision‑making capabilities.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlinessimultaneously. Ability to multitask and adapt priorities quickly
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels. Advanced planning & analytical capability
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities and meetdeadlines efficiently.
  • Customer‑Focused Approach:A commitment to understanding the needs of internal stakeholders and ensuringprocurement strategies meet those needs.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators mustbe clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
