Job summary

Nordic Cold Chain in Reno, NV seeks an experienced maintenance technician to sustain safe, reliable production. You will perform preventive maintenance on form-fill-seal equipment, conveyors, and refrigeration systems, diagnose faults from schematics, and coordinate repairs with qualified vendors.

Reporting to the Engineering Director with a strong plant-management liaison, you will document actions in CMMS, coach operators on routine care, and help prevent unplanned downtime while working on

Qualifications

• 3+ years in industrial maintenance preferred; technical training and hands-on capability considered.
• Ability to read schematics and safely use diagnostic instruments.
• Experience maintaining automated manufacturing machinery, including motors, drives, sensors, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to distinguish equipment faults from setup, material, or process problems.
• Basic computer and CMMS skills, dependable attendance, clear communication, and collaboration with production teams.
• Second shift: troubleshoot independently and manage multiple breakdowns without on-site backup.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults using schematics, OEM manuals, measurements, and troubleshooting processes.
• Maintain packaging film tracking, registration, sealing and cutting systems, machine timing, heaters, thermocouples, temperature controls, pumps, valves, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and drives.
• Troubleshoot motor circuits, control wiring, relays, contactors, sensors, VFDs, PLC I/O, and HMI alarms; support 480V equipment as qualified.
• Maintain automated freezer handling equipment, including conveyors, tower drives, actuators, sensors, and safety interlocks; coordinate refrigeration work with providers.
• Execute scheduled inspections, lubrication, calibrations, and preventive maintenance; identify deteriorating conditions and recommend corrective work.
• Investigate recurring failures and verify repairs restore safe operation and production speeds.
• Document work orders, failure causes, corrective actions, parts usage, and labor time in the CMMS; flag shortages.
• Coach operators in routine equipment care and early identification of abnormal conditions.
