Job summary

Sealed Air Corporation in Charlotte, NC, seeks a driven professional to develop new food packaging products. You will design and test packaging materials, assess shelf life impacts, and communicate results to customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities include creating test plans, performing fitness-for-use testing, delivering technical training, and collaborating across supply chain, sales, and manufacturing to ensure performance and quality. Travel up to 30% is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters of Science Degree in meat science, food science, or packaging discipline
• Candidates with 2–3 years of relevant, hands-on experience may also be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Flexible travel domestically and internationally, estimated 30%
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience creating data-driven reports to communicate technical ideas

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new material and system designs through rigorous testing that simulates real-world conditions and stresses.
• Work well within a cross-functional team.
• Assess the impact of packaging on the shelf life of various food products, including protein applications, and use those insights to qualify new solutions and communicate performance risks.
• Support the development of case-ready material solutions (rollstock, films, and trays).
• Deliver technical training to field support and customers on case-ready technology.
• Apply creative problem-solving to support our customers and internal innovation process.
• Create insights that drive the next innovations for Sealed Air.
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences.
• Conduct root-cause analysis that enables recommendations for data-driven business decisions.
• Build strong customer relationships and collaborate effectively across technical and commercial teams to accelerate the implementation of Sealed Air solutions.
• Partner with supply chain and manufacturing teams to assess the impact of raw material or process changes on packaging performance and product quality.
• Partner with a variety of cross-functional teams within the organization to develop and transfer technologies regionally and globally.
• Work effectively within a matrix-managed organization.
