Hayden Industrial is seeking a Packager I to safely and efficiently perform initial packaging, wrapping, and basic material transport for CRAH units, ensuring readiness for storage per quality and safety standards. You will operate cranes and forklifts, wrap units, document with photos, assist with light assembly, and help load trucks as needed.

Work in a non-temperature controlled environment with PPE; 3:30pm-2:00am Mon-Thu, occasional Friday shifts.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Entry-level candidates welcome.
Ability to obtain overhead crane and forklift certification.

Responsibilities

Move CRAH units using cranes and rigging to packaging pallets.
Apply protective packaging per sheets.
Wrap and secure units with straps and automatic wrapping robots.
Document packaging photographs at stages.
Operate forklifts or pallet jacks to store units.
Assist with basic assembly and load trucks when needed.

Job description

Brief Description

The Packager I is responsible for safely and efficiently executing the initial packaging, wrapping, and basic material transport procedures for finished Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) units. This role ensures units are prepared, secured, and stored according to company quality standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Unit Transfer & Setup: Utilize overhead cranes and rigging equipment to safely move finished CRAH units from final testing onto designated packaging pallets.
Packaging Application: Apply desiccant packs, protective covers, corner guards, and plastic wrapping as specified in technical packaging sheets.
Securing & Wrapping: Strap units securely to pallets using hand tools or strapping equipment. Operate automated wrapping robots to fully enclose units.
Quality & Documentation: Take required photographic documentation of wrapped units at designated stages prior to storage or transport.
Transport & Storage: Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts or pallet jacks) to transfer packaged units to designated storage locations, stacking them as required.
Secondary Support Tasks: Perform final unit cleanup, clean workspace area, assist with basic assembly work, and participate in material prep when packaging volume permits. Loading of trucks as necessary depending on circumstance.
Safety & Compliance: Follow all OSHA safety rules, crane operating guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience is a plus, but entry-level candidates are welcome.
Ability to obtain overhead crane and forklift certification (training provided).
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Physical ability to stand, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Supervisor Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Non-temperature controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles that are usually associated with metal fabrication shops. All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment to include noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, (paint masks, respirator, when required) and OSHA compliant safety boots/shoes within the manufacturing facility.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties of this job, the employee in this position is regularly required to stand for long periods of time. This position requires walking, the ability to reach, ascend/descend ladders, bend, kneel, and stoop. The employee occasionally will lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 3:30pm to 2:00am. Occasional Fridays and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
