Job summary

careers-loretto2 is seeking a Transportation Specialist to move participants to and from destinations, ensuring safety and courtesy at all times.

Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, you will assist with belts, wheelchairs, and belongings, maintain clean vehicles, and comply with safety policies across various sites. Full-time and Per Diem shifts are available, offering competitive pay and benefits to support care for participants with mobility needs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED not required.
  • Completion of approved course in First Aid within three months of hire date.
  • Current valid New York State driver’s license, free from major infractions and acceptable by our insurance carrier.
  • 1 year of experience transporting individuals with special mobility needs preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Transport physically and mentally limited participants door-to-door, to varied destinations, timely and safely.
  • Assists participants and their belongings on and off the van and to their destination in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Assures that participants have appropriate clothing for weather conditions. Ensure that all participants wear safety belts and wheelchairs are locked and secured into position.
  • Maintain the First Aid kit and fire extinguisher in the vehicle, replacing supplies as they are used or become outdated.
  • Maintain the vehicle in a neat and clean condition. Cleans interior daily and washes outside of vehicle at least weekly.

Education

High School Diploma/GED not required

Overview

Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, is responsible for the direct transportation of participants who may be physically or mentally limited to and from their destinations. Position requires constant interaction with participants, participant’s family and the staff of the Interdisciplinary Team.

Full-time and Per Diem shifts available!

Responsibilities

Transport physically and mentally limited participants, door to door, to varied destinations both timely and safely. Assists participants and their belongings on and off the van and to their destination in a safe and courteous manner. Assures that participants have appropriate clothing for weather conditions.Ensure that all participants wear safety belts and wheelchairs are locked and secured into position, following the policy and procedure of wheelchair securing. Assures at every stop that participant’s seatbelts and/or wheelchair securing is intact.Maintain the First Aid kit and fire extinguisher in the vehicle, replacing supplies as they are used or become outdated.Maintain the vehicle in a neat and clean condition. Cleans interior daily and washes outside of vehicle at least weekly.
