Job Summary

Responsible for providing high-quality and engaging instruction and academic mentoring to learners; developing, assessing, and assuring excellent pedagogy and curriculum design; promoting student achievement and academic integrity on behalf of the University; and collaborating with support services provided through campus units. This includes academic program development for program currency, growth, retention, and recruitment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Teaching Load: Responsible for generating and delivering classroom learning experiences and clinical skills instruction within the basic medical and clinical science topics based on qualifications. Course assignments are determined in collaboration with the Director of the PA Program, School Dean, and individual faculty, according to unit and university requirements.
  • Teaching Standards: Maintain high standards in classroom teaching through engaging pedagogy, awareness of best practices in graduate education, and staying current with issues, curriculum, and approaches in the discipline.
  • Accreditation: Actively participate in accreditation processes, ensuring compliance with ARC-PA standards.
  • Curriculum: Design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate curriculum; revise based on PA profession competencies and professional practice needs.
  • Assessment and Remediation: Evaluate learner performance, provide remediation, and participate in university-wide assessment processes.
  • Admissions: Participate in recruitment and selection processes.
  • Program Development: Contribute to the development, review, and revision of program mission, goals, and competencies; participate in program evaluation.
  • Self-Assessment and Evaluation: Collect and analyze program data, create action plans, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Advising: Provide academic counseling, support course scheduling, and collaborate on retention efforts.
  • Scholarship: Engage in research, creative work, conferences, and community involvement relevant to the PA profession and higher education.
  • Service: Participate in professional and academic service, including committees, mentoring, and governance.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Education

PA must be NCCPA certified and eligible for licensure in Kansas and/or Missouri; MD, DO, or APRN must be eligible for licensure in Kansas and/or Missouri; must possess a master's or doctorate to teach at the master's level.

Required Experience

Three years of graduate education experience preferred.
