Job summary

Children’s Minnesota is seeking a Physician Assistant to deliver pediatric care across infants, children and young adults in a team-based setting. You will assess, diagnose, treat and educate families, within a family-centered, cost-conscious care model.

The ideal candidate holds MN PA licensure, PA-C certification and at least a Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) with experience across acute, primary and subspecialty pediatric care.

Qualifications

  • MN Physician's Assistant license required.
  • PA-C certification required or in pursuit of recertification defined by NCCPA.
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree required.
  • Experience with acute, primary and subspecialty care patients.
  • Advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills for children and families.
  • Ability to work independently and interpret laboratory and radiographic data.

Responsibilities

  • Provides care to infants, children and young adults through assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care.
  • Health histories, physical exams, diagnosis, treatment and management of pediatric conditions.
  • Prescribes age-appropriate medications and provides counseling and education to children, families and communities.
  • Maintains family-centered, cost-efficient care and collaborates with the healthcare team.
  • Documentation of care to at least 100 patients in the past 24 months; inpatient 20 patients in the past 24 months.

Position Summary

Provides care to infants, children and young adults through assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. This may include, but is not limited to, health histories, physical examinations, diagnosis, treatment and management of common pediatric illness, chronic or acute conditions, behavioral problems or trauma ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing age-appropriate medications and therapeutic devices, and providing counseling and education to children, families and communities. Care may include primary care pediatrics and/or subspecialty care of the child with an acute or chronic illness or learning and behavioral disorders. Ensures that care delivered is family centered, customer focused, effective and cost efficient.

  • License: MN Physician's Assistant license required.
  • Certification: Physician's Assistant Certification required or in pursuit of recertification defined by the certifying body National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree required.
  • Experience working with acute, primary and specialty care patients.
  • Skills: Advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills for children and families. Critical analysis and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and interpret laboratory and radiographic data. Ability to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Ability to work collaboratively through consultation with other healthcare team providers.
  • Documentation of the provision of care to at least 100 patients during the past 24 months.

OR

  • Documentation of the provision of inpatient care (including consultative care) for at least 20 patients during the past 24 months.
  • Maintain current BLS.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee’s scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs. In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
