The General Hospital Corporation in Boston is seeking a Physician Assistant to join Mass General Brigham to manage diverse patient populations, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in ambulatory, inpatient, and procedural settings. You will provide direct care, assess patients, and participate in cardiac cath lab procedures with first assist responsibilities.

The schedule is four 10 hour days, weekdays only, with no holidays, no on call, and no weekends.

Qualifications

  • Education Master’s Degree Physician Assistant required.
  • Licensed Physician Assistant with state license.
  • Experience as a licensed PA preferred, experienced PA proceduralist preferred.
  • Ability to take medical histories, interpret findings, and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions per policies.
  • Documents admissions, progress notes, procedure notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs cardiac procedures in the cath lab as first assist and independent.
  • Collaborates with Interventional Cardiologists, Cardiac Fellows and other PAs to meet patient needs.
  • Involves pre-procedural evaluations, consenting and post-procedure care.

Summary The physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider. The PA is responsible for the assessment and management of various populations of patients, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation.

Essential Functions
  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population in the ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural setting.
  • Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
  • Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on the outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Consistently provides high quality and timely documentation including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
  • Performs cardiac procedures in the cath lab.
  • Functions as first assist and independent.
  • Procedures performed in a high volume fast paced cath lab at MGH.
  • Works collaboratively and in a coordinated fashion with Interventional Cardiologists, Cardiac Fellows and Other PAs in the section to meet the needs to patients.
  • In addition to first assist and independent procedures the APP will be involved in pre-procedural evaluations, consenting and post procedure care.

Education Master's Degree Physician Assistant required.

Licenses and Credentials Physician Assistant [State License] - Generic - HR Only required.

Experience Experience as a licensed Physician Assistant preferred, Experienced PA proceduralist preferred.
