Job summary

Qorvo, Inc. in Chelmsford, MA is offering a PA Design Engineering Internship in our Advanced Cellular group. You will work on power amplifiers, explore new architectures, and support RF module designs used in wireless communication.

The role is ideal for a MS or PhD student in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics, with coursework in RF/microwave and hands-on lab experience. You will gain mentorship, participate in design reviews, and contribute to real-world products while developing skills

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Exposure to RF measurement equipment preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Cadence/ADS/HFSS is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Designing power amplifiers, investigating new architectures/circuits and supporting PA development for RF modules used in wireless applications.
  • Performing schematic capture, circuit simulations, and layout of RF PA ICs, modules, and evaluation boards.
  • Validating PA design and module layout performance with 2D/3D EM modeling and electro-thermal solver.
  • Meeting efficiency/linearity targets while considering size, cost, and schedule.
  • Producing designs with increasing complexity for 5G, LTE, carrier aggregation, and multiple antennas.
  • Adapting to customer requirements for ruggedness, ESD, and reliability.

Qorvo’s PA Design Engineering Internshipsare offered in our Advanced Cellular business group. Specific projects and responsibilities will be determined based on the business needs at the time of the internship assignment.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Designing power amplifiers, investigating new architectures/circuits and supporting power amplifierdevelopment for RF modules used in wireless communication applications
  • Performing schematic capture, circuit simulations, and layout of RF PA integrated circuits, modules, and evaluation boards
  • ValidatingPA design and module layout performance with commercial 2D or 3D EM modeling and Electro-Thermal Solver
  • Meeting challenging efficiency and linearity requirements while also considering size, cost, footprint, and schedule
  • Producingdesigns with increasing complexity from customer demands for 5G, LTE, carrier aggregation, multiple antennas, filters, and power management
  • Adapting to new customer requirements for ruggedness, ESD, and reliability
  • Working with signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters to collect lab data and validate modeling accuracy. Provide feedback for next design cycle.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a MSor PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Electromagnetic and/or Microwave Engineering coursework and/or experienceis a plus
  • Exposure to RF measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers and network analyzers preferred
  • Software exposure: Cadence, ADS, FEM, HFSS, Momentum, Cadence. Electro-thermal simulation is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong writtenand verbal communication skillsto conveycomplex technical information
  • Detail oriented to ensure design and delivery of high yielding products
  • Ability to enjoy working in fast paced work environment

Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience: $31/hr - $42/hr (subject to change dependent on physical location)

Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Qorvo reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as external competitiveness and internal comparability.

Base compensation is one element of Total Rewards offered at Qorvo. More information on the Total Rewards package can be shared upon request.
