Job description

Part-Time | 25–28 Hours/Week | In-Person in McLean, VA

$25–$27/hour + Monthly/Quarterly Performance Bonuses

Are you the person everyone relies on to keep things organized, anticipate what's coming, and get things done?

Tutoring Club of McLean is looking for an exceptional Center Administrator to help keep our busy, award-winning tutoring center running smoothly. This isn't a traditional administrative assistant position. You’ll be one of the people who keeps our center running. We’re looking for someone who loves organization, works quickly, thinks critically, communicates well, and takes genuine ownership of their work.

We’re fast-paced. And when we say fast-paced, we mean fast-paced!

What You’ll Do

You’ll serve as a central point of organization for our students, families, and team, including:

  • Owning student and tutor scheduling and making real-time adjustments as needs change
  • Managing email and phone communications with families and staff
  • Preparing reports, documentation, assessments, and materials for parent/student meetings
  • Maintaining student records, files, binders, and digital systems
  • Keeping curriculum, practice tests, supplies, and inventory organized and stocked
  • Preparing the center for daily tutoring sessions
  • Greeting students and families and providing a warm, professional experience
  • Troubleshooting day-to-day issues and knowing what to handle independently and what to escape
  • Following administrative tasks and projects all the way through to completion
  • Identifying ways to make our processes more efficient and effective

Much of this role is computer-based, so strong digital organization and technology skills are essential. You should be highly comfortable with Google Workspace and particularly Google Sheets.

You May Be Our Person If You...
  • Are exceptionally organized, proactive, and dependable
  • Naturally notice details others miss
  • Can manage multiple competing priorities without losing track of what matters
  • Work quickly without sacrificing accuracy
  • Are a critical thinker and natural problem solver
  • Are self-sufficient—but communicate early when you need help, information, or resources
  • Stay calm and centered in a busy environment
  • Take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do next
  • Have excellent follow-through
  • Are warm, professional, and comfortable communicating with parents, students, and staff
  • Learn technology and new systems quickly
  • Welcome feedback and use it to get better
  • Are willing to move something forward at 80–90%, learn from it, and improve it rather than waiting indefinitely for perfection

What we don't expect is perfection, but we do expect intelligence, enthusiasm, initiative, and great operations.

Your Background

We're less concerned with your exact previous job title than with whether you've successfully managed a lot of moving pieces.

Strong backgrounds could include office administration, office management, scheduling, operations, project coordination, legal or medical administration, professional services, education/school administration, client operations, or military administration/operations/logistics.

We enthusiastically welcome veterans, military spouses, experienced professionals returning to the workforce, and graduate students with meaningful administrative or operations experience.

Schedule & Compensation
  • Approximately 25–28 hours per week; Hours may vary somewhat based on center needs, with occasional additional hours during busier periods.
  • In-person in McLean
  • Primarily Monday–Thursday, with required availability during our peak 4:00–6:00 p.m. hours
  • Some Saturdays required
  • $25–$27/hour starting base , depending on experience
  • Additional performance-based bonuses and incentives
Why TCM?

You’ll join an established, collaborative team doing work that genuinely matters for students and families.

We offer:

  • Paid comprehensive training and ongoing development
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • 401(k) with company matching for eligible employees
  • Family tutoring benefits, including complimentary tutoring for dependent children
  • Professional development and growth opportunities
  • Team activities and a fun, fast-paced work environment
  • Convenient McLean location with ample free parking
Interested?

As part of our application process, candidates complete brief Predictive Index Behavioral and Cognitive Assessments (approximately 6 and 12 minutes).

If you're the person people trust to notice it, organize it, solve it, and get it done , we’d love to meet you!
