Job summary

PPG Industries in Barberton, OH is seeking a Chemical Operator to ensure a quality product is available to customers. You will report to a Production Supervisor and work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

You will participate in wage progression after training and advance based on qualifications and performance. A strong commitment to safety and teamwork is essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• Must perform all job tasks in a safe manner by following mandatory safety requirements.
• Ability and willingness to adjust to change and be assigned to any production area or non-production tasks.
• Work safely and use good judgement in all work situations.
• Effectively resolve and troubleshoot problems.
• Work with others to achieve goals and take ownership.
• Able to start up and stop equipment.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and document completion of each step.
• Work with equipment following safety procedures, including working with hazardous chemicals and laboratories.
• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting actions and continuing needs.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures and regulations.
• Perform basic quality and process checks.

Chemical Operator - Barberton- Norton, OH

Pay Rate: $26.64

$1000 Sign on Bonus + $1000 Retention Bonus after 1 year

Shift: Rotating shift which would include nights, weekends, and holidays.

1st– 6A-2P

2nd– 2P-10P

3rd– 10P-6A

As an Chemical Operator at PPG Barberton- Norton, OH plant, you will be a crucial part of our operations, ensuring that a quality product is available to our customers when they need them. You will report to a Production Supervisor. Your work will directly affect people’s lives!

Wage progression:

1st scheduled raise after training (8-10 weeks)

Additional wage progression is based on the number of qualifications. The more you know and can do, the more you can make.

Responsibilities:

• Able to follow documented step-by-step instructions and accurately document completion of each step.
• Work with equipment following set safety procedure, including working with hazardous chemicals, laboratory, and other devices.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Perform basic quality and process checks.

Qualifications:

• Able to work in any area of the department.
• Manually lift up to 50 LBS.
• Flexible to be pulled from one job to the next and then go back to first job as needed.
• Able to work in a respirator.
• Able to climb fixed ladders, portable ladders, extension ladders.
• Able to work overtime as necessary.
• Able to stand/sit for long periods and frequently use stairs, catwalks, and ladders.
