Job summary

PPG Industries, Inc. is seeking a Production Associate - Extrusion Line Operator in North Carolina to help maintain and operate extrusion line equipment, perform start-ups and changeovers, and support ongoing production with quality checks and rapid issue resolution.

You will stack material, purge imperfections, take can samples for Quality Control, and assist with shifts and overtime as needed. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and English literacy is required for training and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in a plant/manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English for training/safety purposes.
• Ability to work an 8-hour shift and overtime as needed.
• Must understand and communicate in English to safely perform job duties.

Responsibilities

Production Associate - Extrusion Line Operator

Primarily responsible for maintaining production equipment elements like start-up, operation, changeover, shutdown and preventative maintenance. Equipment may include but is not limited to: extrusion line equipment, tools and/or dies. Must be able to:

• Stack material from line onto pallet
• Perform visual quality checks of materials and purge imperfections while stacking
• Obtain can samples (can/sheet) and present to Quality Control lab for testing
• Assist with start-ups and shutdowns on the extrusion line
• Assist wherever is needed and perform additional duties as assigned

Qualified candidate will possess:

• Positive attitude
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Willingness to contribute to a continuous improvement environment
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Experience in a plant/manufacturing environment, preferred
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English for training/safety purposes
• Ability to work an 8-hour shift and overtime as needed
• Ability to understand and communicate in English sufficiently to safely perform job duties, follow work instructions, understand safety requirements, and respond to emergency situations
• Must be willing to take on new assignments/job tasks as needed
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Starting pay: $18.50 per hour
