Job summary

Mennel Milling Company in Logan, Ohio is seeking a P&L Operator for a full-time, 2nd shift role. You will process, transfer, pack, load, ship, and receive products while maintaining sanitation standards to support safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include adhering to GMPs and safety rules, performing sanitation tasks, operating forklifts, and handling documentation. Some overtime may be required in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in flour milling, food processing, or related manufacturing preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with internal/external customers.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Follow all food safety, quality, and personal safety regulations (GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA).
• Maintain department and facility in audit-ready condition.
• Ensure food safety and plant safety rules are followed.
• Perform sanitation tasks (vacuuming, mopping, washing, clean-up).
• Complete preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
• Transfer, pack, load, and unload flour and feed products with proper equipment.
• Operate forklifts safely and daily.
• Load bulk and bagged flour trucks and railcars.
• Complete production, quality, shipping, and receiving documentation accurately.
• Support inbound/outbound material movement across the facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As a P&L Operator, you’ll play a key role in processing, transferring, packing, loading, shipping, and receiving products while maintaining sanitation standards that support safety, food safety, and efficient operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Following all food safety, quality, and personal safety regulations, including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA, and company sanitation standards.
• Maintaining the department and facility in an audit-ready condition.
• Ensuring food safety rules, plant safety rules, and GMPs are consistently followed.
• Performing general sanitation duties including vacuuming, mopping, washing, blow-downs, and facility clean-up.
• Completing preventative maintenance activities and minor equipment repairs.
• Transferring, packing, loading, and unloading flour and feed products using the appropriate equipment.
• Operating forklifts safely and efficiently on a daily basis.
• Loading bulk and bagged flour trucks and railcars.
• Completing required production, quality, shipping, and receiving documentation accurately.
• Supporting inbound and outbound material movement throughout the facility.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in flour milling, food processing, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• Previous truck driving experience and a CDL are preferred.
• Ability to pass a Respirator Fit Test and perform required duties while wearing a respirator.
• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external customers.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, procedures, and documentation.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
• Strong judgment, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in a fast‑paced environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.
• Ability to regularly use hands and arms to operate equipment and perform maintenance tasks.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to work at heights and in varying environmental conditions.

This position works in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and is regularly exposed to:

• Moving machinery and equipment.
• Dust, airborne particles, and common wheat allergens.
• Hot, humid, cold, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Elevated work areas and industrial settings.
• Noise levels that require hearing protection.
