Job summary

The Mennel Milling Company is hiring an Elevator Operator in Logan, OH. This full-time on-site role involves receiving, storing, conditioning, drying, transferring, and shipping grain while upholding safety and quality standards.

You will work Monday–Friday, with overtime as needed and be part of a team dedicated to keeping grain moving safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include operating grain handling equipment, performing inspections, and maintaining a clean, audit-ready facility.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and the ability to use them safely and effectively.
• Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders.
• Must pass a Qualitative Respirator Fit Test and perform duties while wearing a respirator.
• Ability to work at heights exceeding 180 feet and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Operate grain handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Receive, transfer, store, and load grain products.
• Grade and inspect corn, wheat, soybeans, and other grains.
• Work around railcars, grain trucks, semis, barges, and related equipment.
• Perform sanitation duties for bins and loading stations.
• Complete preventive and emergency maintenance on equipment.
• Follow GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA, and company safety rules.
• Maintain an audit-ready facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As a Grain Elevator Operator, you will play a critical role in receiving, storing, conditioning, drying, transferring, and shipping grain while supporting Mennel's commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating grain handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Receiving, transferring, storing, and loading grain products.
• Grading and inspecting corn, wheat, soybeans, and other grain commodities.
• Working safely around railcars, grain trucks, semi‑tractor trailers, barges, and other grain‑hauling equipment.
• Performing sanitation duties for grain bins, handling systems, and loading stations.
• Completing preventive and emergency maintenance activities on equipment and systems.
• Following all food safety, quality, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements, including GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, FSMA, and company policies.
• Maintaining the facility in an audit‑ready condition.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic understanding of hand tools and the ability to use them safely and effectively.
• Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders.
• Ability to pass a Qualitative Respirator Fit Test and perform required duties while wearing a respirator.
• Ability to work at heights exceeding 180 feet.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, fall protection equipment, and safety footwear.
• Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
• Strong attention to safety, quality, and operational procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to use hands and arms to perform equipment operation and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to work at elevated heights and in physically demanding conditions.
• Strong visual abilities, including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.

This position works in a fast‑paced agricultural and industrial environment and is regularly exposed to:

• Moving equipment and machinery.
• Dust, airborne particles, and common wheat allergens.
• Hot, humid, cold, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Grain handling facilities, elevated work areas, and confined spaces.
