Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Mechanical Piping Designer to create and maintain P&IDs for a Rincon, GA power plant project. You will work with mechanical and process engineers to document system layouts, fluid flow, and control logic, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

The role requires strong attention to detail, 5–10 years of relevant design experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD and Plant 3D. This onsite contract position offers competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of mechanical design experience focused on P&ID development.
• Experience in CAD development within power generation or heavy industrial settings.
• 2–3 years of AutoCAD usage, with Plant 3D preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain P&IDs using AutoCAD or AutoCAD P&ID.
• Represent piping systems, equipment, instrumentation, and control loops.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to capture design intent.
• Produce clear P&ID documentation with equipment symbols and specs.
• Ensure P&IDs comply with safety regulations and standards.
• Support component selection with piping materials and valves.
• Manage P&ID change control and communicate revisions.
• Perform quality control reviews for accuracy and completeness.
• Develop as-built P&IDs reflecting field configurations.
• Communicate design concepts and changes to team members.
• Provide guidance and training to junior designers.
