Job summary

Protective seeks an experienced P&C actuarial professional to join the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. This role serves as a trusted risk advisor to Protective’s P&C businesses, applying actuarial judgment to help leadership understand risk and capital implications of growth, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.

Dependent on credentialing, the internal title may be Associate Actuary, P&C or Actuary, P&C, with the posted salary range encompassing both levels.

Qualifications

• ACAS designation required.
• 7+ years of P&C actuarial experience in risk management or related field.
• Direct P&C actuarial experience with strong product/operations understanding.
• Experience translating analyses into business insights.
• Ability to influence senior leaders across functions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as ERM partner for Protective’s P&C businesses, including APD and E&S.
• Challenge assumptions, analyses, risk assessments, and management decisions.
• Advise on growth, risk-taking, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.
• Assess exposures relative to risk appetite, limits, and capital framework.
• Develop P&C risk metrics, KRIs, dashboards, and escalation processes.
• Analyze profitability, underwriting performance, and catastrophe exposure.
• Perform stress testing, scenario analyses, and capital assessments.
• Monitor reinsurance programs and risk-transfer strategies.
• Support ORSA, regulatory reporting, and risk governance activities.
• Translate analyses into clear recommendations for leadership.
