Job summary

Mesa Associates, Inc. in Chattanooga or Knoxville is seeking a P&C Engineering Supervisor II to lead a 5+ person team on substation/utility projects for TVA. The role centers on mentoring, design oversight, and timely delivery with active involvement in protection and controls design and project coordination.

The candidate will coordinate resources with PMs and engineers, supervise deliverables, and promote safety and quality. A bachelor’s in electrical engineering is required; PE is preferred.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in substation/utility design with at least 2+ years in protection and controls.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• PE license is highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Works with program managers, project managers, and engineering manager to optimize project resource placement.
• Collaborates with project managers to improve project execution, processes, and efficiency.
• Supervises staff by coordinating design tasks with project teams.
• Ensures staff stay on task and meet timeframes with quality.
• Performs technical oversight and coordinates checking of deliverables and documents.
• Develops and mentors engineers, designers, and drafters within the group.
• Conducts group meetings to communicate department and company objectives.
• Approves timesheets, overtime, and vacation; may approve expenses.

Mesa is looking for a P&C Engineering Supervisor II located in Chattanooga or Knoxville. This individual will manage and supervise a team of 5+ individuals of various experience and skill sets. Responsibilities include ensuring team members stay on task and perform duties within allotted timeframes with high levels of quality. Candidate will represent Mesa and the P&C team while in direct contact with our client, TVA. Successful candidates will proactively take on design and/or check responsibilities to meet workload demands and will train and mentor team members. PE license in highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Works with program managers, project managers, and engineering manager to ensure resources are optimally place on projects.
• Works with project managers to identify methods to improve project execution, work processes, and procedures to continually improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
• Proactively supervises staff by coordinating design tasks with project managers, project engineers, and project leads.
• Ensures staff stay on task and perform duties within allotted timeframes.
• Performs technical oversight and coordinates checking/reviews of deliverables and other project documents.
• Responsible for the development and training of engineers, designers, and drafters within the group.
• Conduct’s group meetings with staff as needed to communicate department and company objectives.
• Approves timesheets and authorizes overtime and vacation. May also approve expense reports.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in substation/utility design, with at least 2+ in protection and controls design.
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• Previous management experience is preferred, but not required.
• Licensed professional engineer is highly preferred, but not required.
