Job description

Intern, Talent Management and Learning & Development

As an intern, you’ll be part of the Learning and Development team within the Talent Management function - a key area within Human Resources that focuses on developing employee potential, strengthening leadership capabilities, and enhancing organizational performance through targeted learning and development initiatives.

Talent Management is responsible for designing and implementing programs that support employees at every stage of their career. This includes Learning and Development (L&D) initiatives such as training programs, workshops, and digital learning experiences that build critical skills and foster continuous growth. You’ll also support efforts related to Performance Management - helping to drive a culture of feedback, goal-setting, and development planning that empowers employees and leaders to achieve their best work.

In this role, you’ll gain hands‑on experience in program coordination, content development, data tracking, and process improvement. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a professional setting, contribute to real‑world projects, and influence how we deliver learning and performance solutions across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Support contract administration training by coordinating with the Technology department to manage training enrollments, track completions in the ELM learning management system, and generate training‑completion reports.
  • Support the management of our online learning library, including updating the learning management system (ELM), assisting with the learning platform Percipio, and creating promotional materials, communications, and curated content to drive employee engagement.
  • Contribute to the administration and continuous improvement of the performance management platform and related processes.
  • Assist in executing career development initiatives, including the maintenance of the career development platform, delivery of career conversations training, and updates to employee career journey maps.
  • Coordinate the Aspiring Business Managers program by supporting participants, managing vendor relationships, collecting and analyzing survey feedback, and recommending program enhancements.
  • Serve as a virtual learning producer for a variety of workshops, from individual contributor development to leadership training sessions.
  • Conduct research on best practices and emerging trends in talent development to identify growth opportunities and support continuous improvement.
  • Lead and deliver an independent project that contributes meaningfully to the Talent Management team's goals, culminating in a formal presentation of findings and recommendations.
  • Assist in coordinating a week long leadership development program for our unionized employees.
  • Shadow Talent Management team members to gain insight into their roles and understand how talent programs align with broader HR and business strategies.
  • Provide support for additional special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrollment at a college/university through the duration of the internship
  • Major in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline.

  • Proficiency or knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Interest in contributing to the success of the New York/New Jersey region.
  • Learnings from your completed courses pertaining to the Talent Management focus area in Human Resources is preferred.
  • The start date is expected to be in January 2026
  • This internship will require 20 to 36.25 hours per week
  • In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week.
