Job summary

SA Recycling in Wooster, OH, is seeking an experienced Burner/Torch Operator to cut oversize ferrous material using an oxy-fuel torch to specified sizes for steel mills. Candidates must be able to work outdoors in all weather with appropriate PPE.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of oxy-fuel torch experience preferred; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Valid safety practices and mechanical aptitude are desirable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
• 2 years experience operating an Oxy-Fuel torch highly preferred.
• General knowledge of scrap metal processing preferred.
• Mechanical background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all materials are safely and properly staged for processing.
• Identify and assess material to determine the appropriate method to cut the material to the desired specifications.
• Inspect and maintain all torch equipment to ensure safe and efficient working conditions.
• Inspect and maintain work area for fire control and to eliminate trip/fall hazards.
• Work in a hot environment for long periods of time while wearing PPE including hard hat, face shield, leather gloves and respirator.
• Strictly adheres to all company and safety rules and regulations regarding PPE.
