Job summary

SA Recycling in Wooster, OH is seeking an experienced Burner/Torch Operator to cut oversize ferrous material with an oxy-fuel torch to mill specs.

Role requires outdoor work in all weather, PPE use, and torch equipment maintenance. HS diploma required; 2 years torch experience preferred; bilingual a plus. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401k with match, weekly pay, uniforms and PPE, with advancement opportunities.

Job description

SA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively looking for an experienced and skilled Burner/Torch Operator. As a Burner/Torch Operator you will play a crucial role on our production team, and be responsible for the accurate cutting of oversize or large ferrous material through use of an oxy-fuel torch to an acceptable size as determined by the steel mill. Your expertise in operating torch cutting equipment will contribute to the success of the team.

As a Burner/Torch Operator you must be able to work outside in all weather conditions while wearing the appropriate safety and weather protection gear.

Responsibilities For The Burner/Torch Operator

• Ensure all materials are safely and properly staged for processing.
• Identify and assess material to determine the appropriate method to cut the material to the desired specifications.
• Inspect and maintain all torch equipment to ensure safe and efficient working conditions.
• Inspect and maintain work area for fire control and to eliminate trip/fall hazards.
• Work in a hot environment for long periods of time while wearing several layers of fire protective clothing and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a hard hat, face shield, leather gloves and a respirator.
• Strictly adheres to all company and safety rules and regulations regarding the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Inspect and maintain work area for fire control and to eliminate trip/fall hazards.

Qualifications For a Burner/Torch Operator
