Job summary

Vertex is seeking a Project Executive to lead the delivery and financial performance of complex construction programs, with focus on K-12, municipal and public safety facilities. You will oversee from preconstruction to closeout, acting as the primary client advocate while guiding high-performing teams toward operational excellence.

The ideal candidate has deep experience delivering public-sector projects, strong financial/risk management, and the presence to build trusted owner/partner

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of related experience or a Master's degree and 8 years of related experience, and at least 5 years in management capacity.
  • Demonstrated success managing P&L, project portfolios, and high-value client relationships.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop project leaders and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong executive presence with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain executive responsibility for the performance of assigned construction programs and projects, including revenue generation, profitability, utilization, and overall financial outcomes.

Job Description

Vertex is seeking a Project Executive who will be responsible for the successful delivery and financial performance of complex construction projects, with a focus on K-12, municipal, and public safety facilities. Core Responsibilities

Business Development, Leadership, Strategic Planning

Operations


  • Provide executive oversight of construction projects to ensure delivery in accordance with contract requirements, schedule commitments, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Act as the senior client representative, accountable for client satisfaction and rapid resolution of project, operational, or performance issues.

  • Monitor and manage project and program financial performance, including cost control, forecasting, utilization, and accounts receivable.

  • Establish and enforce quality control standards for construction delivery, documentation, and reporting.

  • Proactively identify project risks and challenges and escape appropriately while driving timely, effective solutions.

  • Ensure all project operations comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, safety standards, and company policies.

  • Foster collaboration across internal teams, consultants, subcontractors, and partners to deliver successful project outcomes.

  • Support and implement strategic initiatives that advance the firm’s operational excellence and growth objectives.

  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with owners, partners, and internal teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in fast-paced, high-accountability environments.

The salary ranges for this role are as follows:


$138,000 - $332,000 USD annually (Geographical Tier A - Sample Locations: Irvine CA, Middlesex NJ, Tacoma WA, Boston, Alexandria)


$127,000 - $305,000 USD annually (Geographical Tier B - Sample Locations - Baltimore, Chicago, Anchorage, Portland)
