Position Summary
We are seeking a collaborative and motivated Owner's Field Representative to join our team in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. The Field Representative serves as the project owner's on-site representative during construction, providing field review/observation, construction progress documentation and site liaison for the owner to ensure successful project delivery. This role works closely with contractors, architects, engineers, consultants and internal stakeholders to monitor project progress, maintain quality standards, communicate project status and provide input to support informed ownership decisions.
What You Will Do
- Maintain a full-time presence on site to observe and document construction progress.
- Verify work is being performed in accordance with project plans, specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and document construction issues, deficiencies and potential risks.
- Assist in tracking construction progress schedules and contractor performance.
- Monitor safety compliance and report concerns to the project owner.
- Serve as on-site liaison between ownership, contractors, architects, engineers and consultants.
- Attend weekly owner-contractor meetings.
- Assist with RFI (Request for Information) submittals and change-order tracking.
- Coordinate site access associated with owner inspections and stakeholder visits.
- Maintain daily construction reports and project logs.
- Document field observations with photos and written reports.
- Track project schedules, budget updates and pending action items.
- Maintain organized project files and records.
- Assist in reviewing workmanship and material installations.
- Assist in reviewing contractors' third-party quality inspection/test results.
- Track and verify corrective actions are completed for identified deficiencies.
- Monitor compliance with contract documents, codes and owner standards.
- Support development of solutions to resolve identified discrepancies, field conflicts or change in conditions.
- Participate in punch list development and project closeout activities.
- Support project acceptance testing, commissioning and turnover activities, providing input and recommendations to the Owner's project team as necessary throughout the process.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience working on industrial, commercial, healthcare, education or mixed-use projects preferred.
- Sufficient understanding of civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls disciplines to confirm alignment of field construction installations with design documents.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with owner-side project management is a plus.
- Understanding of industrial construction methods and sequencing.
- Knowledge of RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation.
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project or similar platforms.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify and elevate project risks proactively.
- Comfortable working in active construction environments.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Engineering Technology or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent commercial construction experience considered.
- Minimum 2½ years of commercial/industrial construction experience in a Field Technician, Field Engineer, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, Construction Inspector or similar role.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Qualified candidates must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to fulfill all the obligations of the job which include in-person attendance at and participation in company and/or client events or worksites.
Physical Requirements
- Requires sitting, walking and at times bending and prolonged standing.
- Must be able to visit project sites and climb ladders and stairs as required.
- The work requires both indoor and outdoor activity in temperatures ranging from moderate to extreme cold or hot and other weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment as required.
- Substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands and/or fingers are required.
- Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Format and Schedule
- Standard Hours: Full time, 40 hours per week.
- Additional Hours: Additional hours may be required based on project and construction schedules.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday. Periodic weekend work may be required with prior notice.
- Work Format: On-site field location; Office location – on-site office space provided.
- Travel Requirement: Local travel in South New Jersey.
Salary Information
- The expected base salary range for this position is 84000 to 100000.
- Billable hours worked beyond 40 hours per week are eligible for additional compensation.
- Specific compensation for the successful candidate will be based on factors such as experience, education, training, qualifications and work location.
- Discretionary annual bonus is based on individual and company performance.
