Job summary

Sanborn Head & Associates, Inc. in Boston, MA is seeking a Field Technician to join our team of engineers and scientists on geotechnical and environmental projects in urban settings.

You will perform field sampling, QA/QC field reports, calibration of equipment, and collaborate with project staff to support data collection and analyses while adhering to safety procedures. This is a full-time, onsite role with local travel within New England.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction quality assurance on earthwork projects.
• Complete timely field reports, field notes, field logs, and related project documentation.
• Communicate daily with contractors in the field and project managers in the office.
• Complete geotechnical and environmental field sampling, including subsurface exploration programs.
• Calibrate, maintain, and minor repairs of field equipment with guidance for more complex maintenance.
• Assist with data collection, data entry, data review, analysis, and technical research to support project objectives.
• Performs a variety of routine and moderately complex field and technical assignments.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, attention to detail, and accountability in all work products.
• Work under the guidance of experienced engineers and scientists while developing technical and field expertise.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities to build knowledge and advance technical skills.
• Follow company health and safety procedures and promote safe work practices at project sites.

Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled, resourceful, and collaborative Field Technician to join our team in Boston, MA. The Field Technician will work closely with a team of staff engineers and scientists on challenging and exciting projects largely in urban environments. Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in civil engineering technology (or equivalent degree).
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Requires sitting, walking and, at times, bending and prolonged standing.
• Must be able to visit project sites and climb ladders and stairs as required.
• The work requires both indoor and outdoor activity in temperatures ranging from moderate to extreme cold or hot and other weather conditions.
• Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment as required.
• Substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers is required.
• Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Format and Schedule

• Full-time position.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday with flexible daily hours to meet contractor schedules.
• Work Format: Onsite
• Travel Requirement: Local travel within the New England region is required.

Salary Information

• The hourly range for this position is $25 to $28.
• Specific compensation for the successful candidate will be based on factors such as experience, education, training, qualifications, and work location.
• Supplemental Pay: Annual bonus is based on individual and company performance.
