Reports to: Bartender/ Lead Bartender/ Floor Managers/ AGM/ Bar Manager/ Bar Director/ F&B Director


Overstory is different from most restaurants and bars. We are true stewards of hospitality, ensuring each guest has an incredible experience. The barback plays a vital role in this experience by managing small but essential details such as stocking specialty ice, replenishing glassware, and filling infusions, syrups, and batches. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about hospitality who seek growth and skill development.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced, cocktail-centric environment as a bartender or barback
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
  • Comfortable with repetitive motions such as bending and standing
  • Basic knowledge of liquors
  • Full schedule availability
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism and work well in a team

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify table and seat numbers accurately
  • Properly carry and clear glassware using trays
  • Refill water glasses appropriately at tables
  • Maintain cleanliness of station, including bar tops
  • Perform the sequence of service efficiently
  • Understand the 'who’s who' at 70 Pine restaurants
  • Explain and embody our core values
  • Identify different types of tables and seats (bar, cocktail, dining)
  • Complete bar setup and breakdown correctly
  • Stock the bar with all necessary bottles and supplies
  • Mark tables appropriately
  • Be knowledgeable about the menu, including ingredients and allergies
  • Serve cocktails, WBTG, coffee, and tea properly
  • Produce infusions, batches, tinctures, and other ingredients for drinks
  • Open and serve wine bottles correctly

SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be warm, knowledgeable, and appreciative towards guests
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere for all guests
  • Maintain professionalism and composure at all times
  • Report issues to management immediately
  • Monitor service flow and dining timing, adjusting as needed
  • Follow and implement steps of service
  • Supervise activities within your station

JOB DUTIES

  • Clock in and out at scheduled times, after changing into/out of uniform
  • Be on duty and in uniform during your shift
  • Complete side work and closing procedures
  • Set up and close the dining area as per seating plan
  • Attend pre-shift meetings as scheduled
  • Complete necessary paperwork and tip sheets
