Qualifications

• This job has a screen-out element used to determine minimum eligibility: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION—controlling operation of entire multi-fuel storage and distribution system; directing loading/unloading of fuel; conducting inventory by gauging and computing readings.
• Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C).
• Education: This position does not require education.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, control and terminate fuel transfers throughout the tank farm system.
• Record gauge readings at regular intervals during fuel transfer, receipt and issue operations and prepare documentation.
• Direct loading/unloading of fuel aboard tankers, barges and transfer of fuel within tank storage areas.
• Calculate rate of fuel flow and regulate tank feed control valves to maintain pump suction and proper tank levels.
• Operate valves and switches to receive, issue and transfer fuel and liquid nitrogen.
• Patrol pipelines and tank farm areas, examine facilities and equipment and report repairs.
