Wedgwood Christian Services in Grand Rapids, MI seeks an Overnight Youth Treatment Specialist for the Unaccompanied Minors program. You will provide nightly care, counsel and supervision in a residential setting, supporting treatment programs and ensuring safety.
The role requires 21+ with a high school diploma; bilingual skills preferred; valid driver’s license; and compliance with vaccination policies as part of a federally funded program.
Overnight Youth Treatment Specialist Part Time Unaccompanied Minors Program The Youth Treatment Specialist is responsible for providing daily care counsel and supervision to the adolescents living within a residential treatment program Youth Treatment Specialists assist in over seeing the treatment programs of individual residents managing the daily operations of the residential unit
Perform bed checks at least every 15 minutes within the residential programDocument accurate records and reports on bed checks and client behavioursStrive to create a therapeutic milieu an environment marked by warmth empathy and respectAssist in the development implementation and evaluation of client treatment programs; facilitate and support all programs including therapy employment training activities school transportation etcObserve and monitor client behaviours and hold residents accountable using the established agency interventionsDemonstrate knowledge of and timely use of non violent physical crisis intervention techniques Aegis to physically manage residents who are in danger of harming themselves or others Including the completion of required reportsProvide a stable positive role model for residents; be able to assume an authoritative role while maintaining a primary helping relationship with residentsRespect others and understand their needs and feelings regardless of race social ethnic and religious background; have an attitude and aptitude for providing nurturance being patient and accepting othersOversee general health and wellness of clients including assisting with meals physical activities clothing personal hygiene supplies medical dental vision and hygiene care; provide first aid or CPR if required; schedule appointments as assignedDispense medications at prescribed intervals as assignedAssist at other programs as needs arise or as directed ie to assist with crisis situations or when requested to fill in for a staff shortageTransport residents as neededSupport the maintenance of a clean orderly home; supervise and participate with residents in completing assigned duties and meeting defined housekeeping standardsReport all personal and physical property damage to appropriate administrative personnel using established reports and proceduresRegular participation in supervision meetings and team meetings for the sharing of ideas feedback and department planning Seek and solicit feedback Provide feedback to the Supervisor for staff evaluationsResponsible for timely Quality Assurance compliance as related to employees roles and functionsObserve professional confidentiality at all times protect the rights of the residents and their families and abide within the guidelines of the agency Confidentiality PolicyServe as a public relations representative for the agency both in conduct and in communication on and off the jobOther duties as assigned coordinated with the home supervisor assistant supervisor or shift supervisor
