Job summary

YSS in Des Moines, IA seeks overnight youth support staff to supervise and guide young people in a safe, structured living environment. You will be on site during overnight shifts and respond to emergencies while helping youth meet basic needs and learn independent living skills.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least one year in human services, and a valid driver's license with a clean record.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of experience in the human services field.
• Age 21 or older with valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work night shifts and provide crisis support.

Responsibilities

• Provide awake overnight supervision during specified hours and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Enforce program expectations, boundaries, and safety guidelines.
• Monitor routines including curfew, bedtime, wake up, chores, hygiene, and visitor activity.
• Assist youth with basic needs such as food, clothing, hygiene products, and transportation.
• Teach independent living skills and support job searching and self-care.
• Complete shift logs, incident reports, and required program paperwork.
