Job summary

Montrose Grace Place seeks a Basic Center Overnight Youth Care Advocate to supervise and care for youth in a 24/7 residential setting. This full-time, grant-funded role models positive behavior, implements routines, and supports healing through structure, compassion, and consistency.

Responsibilities include coordinating care for youth under 18, enforcing house rules with empathy, supporting hygiene and meals, applying trauma-informed care, and documenting progress.

Qualifications

• Must have at least one year of residential shelter experience.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Background checks (criminal, fingerprint, references) required.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Lived experience of homelessness as youth is preferred but not required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and provide care to youth under 18 in a safe, client-centered setting.
• Ensure safety and enforce house rules with empathy and consistency.
• Support hygiene, meals, and bedtime routines.
• Use Positive Youth Development and trauma-informed care.
• Answer and provide support via phone during shifts.
• Respond to crises using de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed care.
• Interact with youth to build rapport and serve as a positive role model.
• Facilitate conflict resolution with clients and guardians for stability.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager, case managers, and shelter staff to uphold care plans.
• Model professionalism and positive communication; participate in team meetings.
• Attend mandatory trainings and maintain ongoing professional development.
• Develop relationships with partner organizations and maintain confidentiality per RHYA guidelines.
• Adhere to all safety and organizational policies.
