Job summary

Chick-fil-A Western Center Blvd is seeking Overnight Treatment Technicians to join our 24/7 veterinary team. You will support clinicians by completing treatment plans, running diagnostics, administering medications, and monitoring anesthesia during surgeries in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The ideal candidate is a licensed veterinary technician or has equivalent emergency/critical care experience, with strong medical terminology, patient care focus, and proficiency with Cornerstone and

Qualifications

• Licensed veterinary technician or equivalent experience in emergency/critical care.
• Proficiency with medical terminology and patient record documentation.
• Ability to restraint animals safely and perform basic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Complete treatment plans prescribed by doctors.
• Run diagnostic tests per doctor on duty orders.
• Administer medications to hospitalized patients.
• Intake and discharge of hospitalized patients.
• Maintain daily hospital charges and patient charts.
• Record in Smart-flow and Cornerstone systems.
• Monitor anesthesia during surgery.
• Maintain a clean treatment area.
• Discuss financial standings and updates with pet owners.
• Maintain proper medical records and computer skills.

Overnight Treatment Technicians Are Responsible For

• Completing the treatment plan prescribed by Doctors
• Running diagnostic tests per doctor on duty orders
• Medication administration
• Intake and discharge of hospitalized patients
• Discussing financial standings and patient updates with pet owners
• Maintaining daily hospital charges
• Patient charting and notes on our Smart-flow System/ Cornerstone
• Administering medications to boarded pets as needed
• Maintaining a clean treatment area
• Anesthesia monitoring during surgery

This person should maintain a positive attitude, provide excellent patient care and customer service.

A candidate for this position should demonstrate a passion for patient quality of care, should be a licensed veterinary technician or have equivalent experience in emergency or critical care.

Qualifications

• Licensed Vet Technician

or

• Equal experience in emergency or critical care

Skills Required

• Understanding and confidence with the treatment plans for critical patients (Cytauxzoonosis, DKA, GDV, Parvovirus, Kidney Failure, IMHA, ITP, Trauma/Shock, CHF, Seizures, Toxicities, HBC, ABD, etc)
• Proficient use of medical terminology
• Proper animal restraint
• Peripheral catheter placement
• Venipuncture
• Basic bandage application
• Administration of oral and parenteral medications
• Knowledge of various routes of drug administration
• Anesthetic monitoring, Surgical scrubbing, gowning, and surgical prep.
• Aseptic surgical area preparation
• Recording vital signs (Temp, Pulse, Resp BP, and Pain Asses.)
• Perform basic laboratory tests (CBC, Chem17+Lytes, T4, Phenobarbital levels, All Snap Test, Urinalysis, Coags, Blood slides , Ear cytology, PCV/TS, Fecal, etc)
• Maintain proper medical records and computer skills
• Knowledge of in-house and reference laboratory tests
• Knowledge in the use of Cornerstone and Smart-flow are preferred, but not required.

Schedule Requirements: For the overnight position we are looking for someone able to work 8pm-8am. Being a 24/7 hospital our team members have to be willing to work 12 hour shifts, some weekends and volunteer for holidays.
