Job summary

Advanced Veterinary Care, a state-of-the-art urgent care and specialty hospital in Orlando, FL, seeks an Overnight Veterinary Technician. The role requires prior veterinary experience, with ER/urgent care preferred.

You will administer medications, monitor patients, assist in surgeries, and communicate treatment plans to pet owners in a fast-paced team environment. We offer comprehensive benefits, license reimbursement, CE support, and competitive compensation commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

  • Prior veterinary experience is required; ER/urgent care experience preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in drug calculation and strong anesthetic skills.
  • Competent in general nursing skills and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Urgent/Emergency Care: administer medications, perform tests (blood work, x-rays), assist in surgeries, and provide post-operative care.
  • Patient Monitoring: continuously monitor vitals and records and respond to changes.
  • Emergency Procedures: provide CPR and other life-saving techniques.
  • Patient Handling: restrain animals safely for examinations and treatments.
  • Communication: inform pet owners about condition and plan of care.

As an Overnight Technician, you will:
  • Urgent/Emergency Care : Administer medications, perform diagnostic tests (blood work, x-rays), assist in surgeries, and provide post-operative care.
  • Patient Monitoring : Continuously monitor vital signs, patient records, and respond to changes or issues.
  • Emergency Procedures : Provide CPR and other life-saving techniques when necessary.
  • Patient Handling : Handle and restrain animals safely for examinations and treatments.
  • Communication : Communicate with pet owners about their animal's condition and treatment plans.
  • Environment Maintenance : Maintain a clean and organized work environment, sterilize surgical instruments, and assist with intake and discharge.
  • Equipment Management : Operate and maintain medical equipment like ventilators and IV pumps.
  • Triage and Assessment : Conduct initial patient assessments and triage.
  • Advanced Skills : Experience with anesthetic induction, monitoring, IV catheter placement, and advanced nursing care.
Expectations/Requirements:
  • Prior veterinary experience is required, previous Veterinary ER or Urgent Care experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Proficient in drug calculation and strong anesthetic skills
  • Display competency in general knowledge and nursing skills required to care for patients
  • Strong communication skills
