Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Levittown, PA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician for the Overnight Emergency and Critical Care team. The position offers a sign-on bonus up to $5,000 and an hourly pay range of $22.15 to $44.91, with shift differentials.

Schedule is Wednesday–Saturday nights (10:00 PM–8:00 AM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM). Veterans with VTS credentialing may be eligible for compensation commensurate with experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients using monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases, obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography with proper positioning of patients.
• Understand normal ranges of vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical math and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy in peripheral vessels.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train co-workers.
• Address client concerns with patience and empathy.

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Levittown, PA is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technicians to join our Overnight Emergency and Critical Care team.

Schedule:

Wednesday - Saturday, 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM or 7:00 PM-7:00 AM

Pay:

$22.15 - $44.91 / hour + competitive shift differentials

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

Shift differentials

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $3.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $3.50 Shift Differential

Duties of an Emergency Veterinary Technician:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
