Rarebreed Veterinary Partners is seeking an Overnight Veterinary Technician in Canton, CT. You will provide high-quality nursing care to emergency and inpatient cases, perform venipuncture, and assist veterinarians during procedures in a fast-paced hospital.

You will monitor anesthesia, support diagnostics, and maintain accurate records while collaborating with a supportive team to deliver exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Hands-on experience working as a Veterinary Technician is required (assistant-only experience is not sufficient).
• Ability to perform core technical skills including blood draws, catheter placement, patient monitoring, and surgical assistance.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Must be a team player with compassion for pets and their people.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care and technical support to hospitalized and emergency patients.
• Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters.
• Monitor anesthesia and assist veterinarians during surgical and medical procedures.
• Assist with diagnostics including bloodwork, radiographs, and laboratory testing.
• Monitor patient vitals, maintain accurate treatment records, and communicate patient updates to the veterinary team.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Support patient restraint and handling while ensuring a low-stress experience for pets.
• Maintain a clean, organized treatment area and assist with stocking medical supplies.
• Collaborate closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care.

Veterinary Emergency Center of Canton is looking to add a skilled Overnight Veterinary Technician to our team. Our technicians play an essential role in delivering high-quality emergency and inpatient care while supporting a team of experienced ER clinicians. This role is ideal for someone who is confident in their technical skills, enjoys a dynamic caseload, and thrives working alongside a supportive and team-oriented group.

A veterinary technician license is not required, but prior experience working as a veterinary technician (not solely as an assistant) is required.

Our state-of-the‑art emergency hospital serves the greater Hartford area and is equipped with advanced diagnostics, a fully equipped surgical suite, in‑house lab, and a supportive team committed to exceptional patient care. The hospital is open 7 days per week from 8am-12am Monday-Friday and 8am-8pm on Saturday and Sunday. We have 24-hour nursing care for our inpatients 7 days a week including holidays.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
