Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center of Thousand Oaks is seeking an Overnight Veterinary Assistant to join our team. You will support the veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising and grooming patients, preparing surgery suites, restraining patients, and handling clerical work.

VSEC Thousand Oaks has five specialty areas and advanced diagnostics, with full‑time staff and board‑certified specialists.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
• 2 years of Veterinary Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners and guide to examining room; record weight and vital signs.
• Triage patients and assist licensed technicians with exams, treatments, and medications.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medications and restraints.
• Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
• Maintain hospital equipment and documentation; handle controlled drugs securely.
• Feed and monitor patient appetites; report abnormalities.
• Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and treatment plans.
• Maintain cleanliness of hospital, kennels, and facilities; handle laundry.
