Job description

Crossroads Animal Emergency is looking for a Veterinary Assistant with experience in assisting veterinarians to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing end-to-end care for our patients. Your work will include hands-on tasks such as facilitating outpatient treatments, performing laboratory tests, and supporting services like admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the liaison between veterinarians, clients, and patients
  • Organize and track patient diagnostics
  • Coordinate treatment for hospitalized patients
  • Prepare discharge reports and in-hospital updates
  • Communicate with clients, referring DVMs, and pharmacies regarding appointments, medical concerns, updates, referrals, and prescriptions
  • Assist veterinary staff with animal restraint, radiography, and lab equipment
Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of veterinary experience
  • Basic knowledge of veterinary medicine and terminology
  • Effective communication skills with staff and clients
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent customer service skills and a desire to provide outstanding service
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with an hourly rate starting at $19-$25, considering various factors such as skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
