The Inn at Little Washington in Washington, Virginia, invites applications for an Overnight Steward position. The role focuses on deep cleaning of kitchens, ovens, and related areas, with detailed polishing and organization of non-food spaces.

You will support cooks and maintain cleanliness across the back-of-house environment.

The Overnight Steward works through the night on deep kitchen cleaning, polishing, sanitation, and organization. This position is responsible for deep cleaning of the ovens, detailing and polishing of the brass and range, power-washing of the floor, cleaning, consolidating, and organizing non-food areas. The overnight porter will assist with breakdown of the kitchen alongside the cooks. Other responsibilities include cleaning and scrubbing of drawers, gaskets, windows, and other areas as designated by the culinary managers. In the absence of the culinary managers, the overnight porter reports to the overnight maintenance technician and the bakers with any concerns and to review completed work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time (8-10 hours consistently).
• Requires exposure to hot pans, sharp knives, open flames, and temperatures ranging from hot to cold.
• Availability and understanding that the position often requires hours more than a standard workweek (40-50 hours).
