Job summary

The Salvation Army in Houston, TX seeks a Shelter Monitor for the Houston Center of Hope. This on-site role supports residents overnight, conducts intake procedures, and monitors safety and enforcement of house rules to maintain a secure environment.

You will maintain accurate intake records, adapt to varied situations, and collaborate with staff while presenting a professional, compassionate image of the organization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least one year of experience in security or social services in a shelter or similar setting.
• Certifications: a valid state driver’s license preferred, food handlers certification, CPR/First Aid or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents overnight and perform client intake procedures.
• Prepare client intake records and monitor activity on shift to ensure safety and compliance with house rules.
• Maintain accurate records and logs containing pertinent information.
• Ensure the facility is kept neat and orderly.
