What does the Cheekwood Security Team do and why join?

At Cheekwood, the security team manages the safety and protection of the grounds. Their main objective is to ensure a secure environment for visitors while upholding the integrity of the gardens and facilities. This involves monitoring and patrolling the grounds, implementing safety protocols, and helping visitors when needed. The security team collaborates in coordinating special events within the garden and contributes to generating revenue to sustain the garden's mission and ongoing initiatives. What will you be doing?

The Overnight Security Attendant is responsible for maintaining the safety, security and integrity of the property during off-business hours. Operating primarily during night shift, the core duties include conducting routine foot or mobile patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, inspecting access points and ensuring all doors, gates and windows are properly secured. This role acts as the primary point of contact for emergency situations.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct initial perimeter sweep to confirm all doors, windows, gates and emergency exits are fully locked and secured.
• Verify that non-essential interior lights display screens and appliances are powered down.
• Manage any late-night entry for authorized personnel, verifying credentials and logging access.
• Perform regular, randomized foot or mobile patrols access all building levels, stairwells, basements and exterior zones.
• Actively monitor CCTV cameras, fire panels, intrusion alarms and environmental sensors from the security desk.
• Log all patrol sweeps, key check-outs, visitor entries and unusual occurrences into the log.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, such as water leaks, exposed wiring, broken locks, burnt-out lighting or HVAC issues.
• Work closely with law enforcement and Safety Manager to de-escalate potential conflicts or trespass situations firmly and professionally.
• Inspect parking lots and conduct a formal shift hand-off with incoming morning security or facility management, highlighting any incidents and open maintenance requests.

Requirements

• Valid State of Tennessee Security Unarmed Guard License. Must maintain a valid unarmed security license from the State of Tennessee and a valid Driver’s License at all times. Dallas Law Training also required.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and endure extended periods of standing and walking in all types of weather conditions.
• Security level experience in the Entertainment or Hospitality Industry is a plus.
