Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is seeking an Overnight Scale Operator based in Brooklyn, NY to weigh in/out solid waste vehicles, process payments, and ensure safe landfill operations.

The role requires at least 2 years in a warehouse environment, familiarity with scales, and fluency in English (Spanish a plus). The position is overnight with on-site work at the Brooklyn location, and strong attention to safety is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• High school diploma or GED; higher education is a plus.
• Minimum 2 years of warehouse environment experience.
• Experience in the sanitation industry preferred.
• Experience working with scales preferred.
• Working knowledge of general computer skills.
• Fluency in English required; Spanish bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for drivers, customers, or other traffic at the scale house.
• Accurately calculate and process payments, weights and other measurements.
• Verify incoming loads do not contain any unnecessary or inappropriate material.
• Various administrative tasks including regular filing, data entry and reporting.
• Provide general upkeep of the scale house.
• Additional duties as assigned.
