Job summary

Cloverdale Foods in Mandan, ND is seeking a Sanitation Technician responsible for food safety and sanitation across the facility. The role requires self-motivation, adherence to SOPs, GMPs and safety rules, with work in varied environments including dusty, hot, cold, and wet areas.

You will operate scrubbers, gas-powered cleaning equipment, record sanitation activities, and follow color-coded procedures while maintaining compliance with USDA regulations.

Qualifications

Reports to Sanitation Foreman

Job Summary

The Sanitation Technician is responsible for the Food Safety and Sanitation needs of the entire Cloverdale facility. Position requires self-motivation, the ability to perform with little or no direction while following established SOPs, Good Manufacturing Practices, and all Safety related Rules, Regulations, and Company Policies. Sanitation employees may work in adverse environments such as: dusty areas, cold, heat, extremely filthy areas, confined spaces as well as many others. Sanitation employees must be able to follow the direction of the Sanitation Line Lead, Sanitation Foreman, and the Sanitation Supervisor.

Office Environment

1% of the work is conducted in an office setting, involving time spent on communication with team members and stakeholders. Frequent participation in both in-person and virtual meetings, including project updates, and strategy sessions.

Production Environment

99% Regular visits to the production areas will involve exposure to machinery, noise, varying temperatures, humidity, and wet conditions.

Schedule

10:00 pm to 6:30 am, may need weekends, and holidays based on operational requirements.

Qualifications (Key Responsibilities)
  • Responsible for plant sanitation and food safety requirements.
  • Cleaning and sanitation for multiple production areas, such as the dry dock and goods in the warehouse receiving area.
  • Responsible for documenting sanitation activities, as required.
  • Required to run a scrubber and sweeper as necessary.
  • Operate Bio-Mist and exchange gas/propane cylinders.
  • Operate gas-powered cleaning equipment- power washer, blowers, floor scrubber(s), and other equipment as necessary.
  • Learn and follow safety procedures for all equipment and report all incidents regardless of size.
  • Use vacuums, brushes, mops, and all cleaning equipment per color coding in the facility.
  • Use of chemicals, understanding of MSDS is a must.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision as well as within a team setting.
  • Effective analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective oral & written communication skills.
  • Prior experience in sanitation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with USDA regulations and GMP practices.
  • Ability to follow strict cleaning protocols.
  • Self-motivated.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Regular visits to production areas will involve exposure to machinery, high noise levels, varying temperatures, humidity, wet conditions, and chemicals.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
  • Ability to work around ingredients and/or finished products containing food allergens.
  • Must be able to communicate through various channels, including phone, email, face-to-face, and videoconferencing.

Compensation

At Cloverdale Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $18.00 - $22.00 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
