Job Summary
An Assistant Produce Team Leader's primary responsibility is to assist the Produce Manager in leading the Produce Department. This includes directing and managing Team Members, ordering raw materials and supplies, and implementing merchandising initiatives to promote business growth, meet customer needs, and maximize profits. The role requires proven leadership skills and the ability to follow the competency model of climbing the hill, seeing the hill, and leading others up the hill. Additional responsibilities involve delivering profitable growth targets.
Job Description
- Experience Required: 1 to 3 years
- Experience Desired: Prior management experience in grocery operations/produce or related field; Customer Service Experience; Knowledge of Market District operational procedures; Ability to read and interpret Profit and Loss statements
- Education Desired: High school diploma or equivalent
- Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
- Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring the safety of Customers and Team Members while exceeding health and OSHA requirements.
- Direct Team Members using work lists, understanding and performing all duties required of a clerk. Oversee and evaluate training of new and current Team Members.
- Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
- Demonstrate strong product knowledge, interest, and passion for the role's products and services.
- Write department orders, monitor ordering, and supervise stocking and receiving using the latest tools and technology/automated ordering systems.
- Manage inventories by tracking weekly reports, ordering products and supplies to meet customer needs and maximize profits.
- Understand and adhere to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. In the absence of the Produce Manager, schedule Team Members and delegate tasks effectively to maximize store profits.
- Prepare, maintain, and track records related to inventories and work processes to calculate monthly gross profits per company policy.
- Develop and implement merchandising plans to meet the department's financial objectives.
- Control department costs by monitoring and improving operations to increase profitability.
