Job summary

HAWC, Healing Abuse Working for Change, Inc., seeks multiple Overnight and Per Diem staff to support participants in our Emergency Domestic Violence Shelter. On-site shifts include every-other weekend, overnight 8pm-8am, and varied coverage; positions are part-time per diem paid hourly.

Wages are $18.82/hour, or $19.57/hour with bilingual skills; employees working 20+ hours weekly receive prorated benefits, including vacation, holidays, sick and personal days, 70% paid family leave, and a 401K

Qualifications

• Commitment to empowering survivors of domestic abuse.
• Experience in crisis intervention and crisis management.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Reliability with scheduling and availability.
• Ability to collaborate to solve problems with participants and staff.
• Respectful work with diverse backgrounds; bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of shelter participants and staff per policies.
• Provide trauma-informed direct support to adults and children as needed.
• Document interactions and hotline calls in the agency database.
• Maintain shift logs with updates, safety concerns, and maintenance notes.
• Provide updates to staff during shifts; communicate via email/phone as needed.
• Monitor shelter security and participant presence; ensure overall safety.
• Cover hotline during scheduled hours and document in the database.
• Screen and orient new shelter participants; prepare and inspect rooms.
• Organize shelter resources: bedding, food, clothing, toiletries.
• Keep staff areas clean; attend trainings and travel to other offices.
• Participate in 30-hour pre-service orientation.
