Job summary

Sycamores in Beaumont, California seeks a Peer Support Specialist for the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program. The role supports the 988 hotline by providing in-person crisis stabilization, safety planning, and connections to housing, health and social services in the field.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent degree.
• Be self-identified as having experience with the process of recovery from a mental illness or substance use disorder, either as a consumer of these services.
• If the lived experience includes a history of substance use, a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety prior to the date of employment is required, and ongoing sobriety must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
• Be willing to share their lived experience.
• Have a strong dedication to recovery.
• Agree, in writing, to adhere to the Code of Ethics.
• Certification in Peer Support is preferred but not required; if not certified, complete training and pass certification after hire.
• Maintains all required licenses and certifications.
• Driving is an essential function; acceptable driving record and auto insurance are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-the-field crisis evaluation, stabilization, and support in conjunction with clinicians.
• Offer crisis intervention, safety planning, and navigation to community resources.
• Advocate for the client voice, self-determination, and treatment preferences.
• Coordinate with hospitals, ambulances, and first responders as needed to ensure safety and continuity of care.
