Job summary

Sika in Canton, MA is seeking an experienced Machine Operator to support its Roofing business. The role operates the V shift (Mon, Tue, Wed and alternating Wednesdays) from 6pm to 6am on a PLC-controlled extrusion coating line, performing setup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning, and adjusting parameters to optimize speeds and yields.

Your duties include forklift movement, quality reviews at workstations, adherence to safety and environmental policies, and willingness to cover overtime or

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write English.
• Prior plastics or coating production experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, breakdown and clean extrusion line components.
• Develop processing parameters to optimize line speeds and yields.
• Safely operate forklifts to move materials to workstations.
• Perform quality reviews of products at assigned workstations.
• Follow company environmental and safety policies.
• Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Supporting a PLC controlled 120 wide tandem flexible PVC extrusion coating line

The operation will include set up, operation, breakdown and cleaning of all components, and the development of proper processing parameters during operation to optimize line speeds and yields

Safe operation of forklifts to transport materials to workstations.

Ensure proper quality review of the product on workstations assigned.

Follow all company policies, including environmental policy and notify supervisor of any concern that may affect work area or company property.

Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior experience with plastics, vinyl coating, lamination or printing production highly desirable
• Ability to read and write English
• Good verbal communications skills
• Understanding of how to use a touch-screen (PLC) production line
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures
• Ability and willingness to work overtime if required
• Availability and willingness to cover any shift with prior notification
