Job summary

New River Valley Community Services seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Crisis Receiving & Stabilization Center in Radford, VA. This overnight role focuses on psychiatric nursing services and medication management for clients in crisis, with emphasis on accurate medication records and coordination with psychiatrists or nurse practitioners.

You will guide other staff on psychotropic medications and assist clients in obtaining medications through state programs.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
• Must have a valid Virginia LPN license.
• Experience in psychiatric or crisis care is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage psychiatric nursing services and medication services for crisis stabilization program clients.
• Assist clients in obtaining medication requests through state pharmacies or other programs.
• Monitor clients’ responses to prescribed medications.
• Inform psychiatrists/nurse practitioners about client responses and difficulties related to prescribed medications.
• Instruct staff on the use of psychotropic medications with mentally ill and co-occurring populations.
