Job summary

The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board (H-NNCSB) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center in Hampton to join the overnight team.

You will provide nursing and medication management for adults in behavioral health and substance use services, perform assessments, monitor medications, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety, stabilization, and recovery.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN nursing program.
• One year of medication administration experience in substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care, or long-term care (including dispensing narcotic medication).

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and medication management to adults receiving behavioral health and substance use services, including controlled substances and methadone when applicable.
• Complete physical and mental health assessments, intake and follow-up interviews, and supportive nursing interventions.
• Monitor medication orders, inventories, secure storage, counts, and documentation to ensure safe and compliant medication practices.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, providers, and the multidisciplinary team, communicating changes in condition and clinical concerns as needed.
• Maintain accurate clinical records while supporting a safe, therapeutic environment for individuals receiving crisis and behavioral health services.
