Job summary

Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists + Animal Emergency in Lexington, KY is seeking an Overnight Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our emergency team. You’ll support hospital operations by delivering high-quality patient care, assisting during surgeries, maintaining records, and communicating with pet owners under veterinary direction.

Qualifications

• Must be a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
• Experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care is preferred
• Ability to work with or around sick animals and hazardous materials

Responsibilities

• Determine animal requirements and perform examinations and diagnostic procedures
• Assist during surgery and provide nursing care and patient handling
• Maintain medical records and ensure proper documentation of medications and treatments
• Administer medications, vaccines, and manage controlled substances per veterinary directions
• Communicate with pet owners about patient status as directed by the veterinarian
• Maintain a clean, safe hospital environment and sterilize instruments as required
